On the second day of my family’s six-day trek on Iceland’s world-famous Laugavegur and Fimmvörðuháls trails, we reached our hut near the shore of Álftavatn Lake, whose waters seemed to play with the light reaching its surface in hypnotic ways. I shot this photo from near the lakeshore on the afternoon that we arrived there.
