Early one cool morning while camped on a low ridge above Baron Lake in Idaho’s Sawtooths, I emerged from my tent before the rising sun had reached my camp or the forest ringing the Baron Lakes. But the dawn had already ignited the peaks looming over the far shore of Baron Lake, giving me just a few minutes to capture this image before sunlight bathed the entire lakes basin and the light and contrast had flattened.
