Bull Moose along the Teton Crest Trail, Grand Teton National Park (horizontal)

As we backpacked up the North Fork of Cascade Canyon on the Teton Crest Trail in early morning—always a great time to see wildlife—one of my companions waved to get my attention and then pointed. In a wildflower-strewn meadow just a few hundred feet from us, a very large bull moose moseyed along, casually grazing the feast of greens along the creek in the lush canyon bottom while occasionally pausing to glance up at the strange bipedal animals that seemed to be watching him. It was a sighting not entirely uncommon there: I’ve seen moose in parts of Cascade Canyon several times. And never grown any more tired of that than of walking through the Tetons.
