John Muir Trail Outdoor Photography

Choose from these beautiful images from “America’s most beautiful trail.”

In 2006, two friends and I thru-hiked the 211-mile John Muir Trail in seven days, averaging 31 miles per day. Yes, that was crazy. But my memories of that first JMT adventure are not of the long days or the sore feet or blisters but of high passes with mind-blowing panoramas of the High Sierra and a constellation of gorgeous alpine lakes, one after another.

I’ve since returned multiple times to backpack sections of the JMT, which crosses three national parks—Yosemite, Kings Canyon, and Sequoia—and two national forest wilderness areas, the Ansel Adams and John Muir wildernesses. The photos available for purchase here capture moments of exceptional light in some of the scenic highlights along the JMT, expressing through imagery the magic of the High Sierra, the mountains that John Muir aptly dubbed “The Range of Light.”

Put a little piece of the John Muir Trail someplace where you can look at it every day.
