Morning Star Lake, Glacier National Park (horizontal)

Sitting at the base of cliffs usually populated by mountain goats along the Continental Divide Trail between St. Mary and Two Medicine in Glacier, Morning Star Lake has a backcountry campground in the forest a short walk from the lakeshore—which means that backpackers camping there have a chance to see how the sunrise and sunset transform that landscape. With luck, you catch a calm evening or morning, when the lake’s surface reflects the forest and distant peaks like a mirror.
